Hearthside: Cozy Cooking Pet ("Hearthside", "the app") is an independent app made by James Napolitano. This policy explains what information the app handles and what happens to it. The short version: your data lives on your device, we do not run accounts, we do not track you, and we do not sell or share anything.
Everything you create in Hearthside, including your meal log, cookbook progress, hearth state, kitchen spirits, and settings, is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate servers that store your meal history, and we cannot see it. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. If you use iCloud device backups, your Hearthside data may be included in those backups under Apple's terms.
Hearthside has an optional feature that identifies a dish from a photo. When you use it, the photo you select is sent over an encrypted connection to a server function we operate (a Cloudflare Worker), which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to identify the dish. The response is a dish name and template match, which is returned to your device.
Your photo is processed transiently and is not saved by our server. We do not store, log, or retain your photos or the identification results on the server side. Photos are used only to answer your dish identification request and for no other purpose. Anthropic processes the image as an API provider under its commercial terms; API inputs are not used by Anthropic to train its models.
Photo identification is entirely optional. You can always log meals manually without ever sending a photo.
Hearthside Plus subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are billed by Apple through the App Store. To manage purchases and restore them across devices, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives purchase receipt information and a random anonymous identifier generated for your app installation. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any account, because Hearthside has no accounts. RevenueCat's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details; Apple handles all billing.
Hearthside contains no advertising, no third-party analytics SDKs, no social features, and no tracking across apps or websites. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or location. We do not sell data to anyone.
Hearthside does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app has no accounts, no chat, and no data collection beyond what is described above.
You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the app. You can stop using photo identification at any time and log meals manually instead. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
